Brady Applauds Phase 1 Trade Deal with China

December 13, 2019 — Press Releases

Washington, D.C. – Today, the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after the U.S. and China announced a phase 1 trade agreement:

“This is a substantive agreement that makes real, enforceable progress on the highest priority trade issues for the U.S.

“I applaud President Trump for his leadership in forcing China to create a fair and level trading relationship by safeguarding America’s intellectual property, reducing structural barriers to agriculture, and ending forced technology transfer.

“The tariff relief will greatly help our workers, companies, farmers, and consumers. As the President and his team continue to discipline China, we look forward to working in close consultation. China has been cheating for far too long, and tackling these key issues with strong enforcement will be a game changer for our American job creators.”
