Brady: Democrats Hold Patients and Access to Local Doctors Hostage to Increasing Debt Limit on Children and Grandchildren

December 7, 2021 — Blog    — Health    — Press Releases

Republican Leader on the House Committee on Ways and Means Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) issued the following statement on Democrats playing games with the debt limit and patient access to local doctors:

“I am deeply disappointed that Democrats are politicizing needed funding for America’s doctors and patients by adding a unrelated poison pill that helps lift the debt ceiling to accommodate wasteful spending.

“House Republicans can’t support using patients and access to local doctors as leverage to increase the national debt on our children and grandchildren.

“We know there’s bipartisan support for providers—and we have been encouraging a bipartisan approach to address our nation’s skyrocketing debt and deficits – but provider relief should stand as a bipartisan standalone bill. Make no mistake: However this change is passed, Democrats are responsible for the spending that drives this debt ceiling increase.”
