CARES Act Funds Are Already Reaching Americans at Record Pace. The IRS Just Created a Tool to Help Funds Reach People Even Faster.

April 15, 2020 — Coronavirus Bulletin

Over 80 million Americans are set to receive payments from the IRS this week as part the CARES Act. Most people will receive checks up to $1,200 and $500 for each child.

These funds are going out the door at a record pace for Americans who have their direct deposit information set up at the IRS. But for those who don’t, the IRS just made it even easier for people to get these rebates faster.

As reported by The Hill,  the “Get My Payment,” tool “allows taxpayers to give the agency their direct deposit information if they didn’t already provide it when filing their 2018 or 2019 returns. It also includes a function that lets people track the status of their forthcoming payment.”

You can access this new online tool HERE.

The page also has directions for taxpayers who haven’t filed a 2018 or 2019 tax return.
